BLOOMSDAY SPONSORSHIP
The Lilac Bloomsday Run will celebrate its 32nd running on Sunday, May 4, 2008. Bloomsday is one of the largest and most prestigious road races in the world, with approximately 45,000 entrants each year. But beyond the impressive numbers, Bloomsday is a community event that captures the imagination of residents of the Inland Northwest each spring. Entrants from throughout the region, across the United States, and around the world travel to Spokane on the first Sunday in May for a massive celebration of health and fitness called the Lilac Bloomsday Run.
Bloomsday is organized by the Lilac Bloomsday Association, a 501(c)(3) non-profit corporation whose mission is to promote national and international sports competition and fitness education for the civic betterment, social improvement, and physical well-being of the general public. The following are Bloomsday’s sponsorship opportunities:
MAJOR SPONSORSHIP: These are Bloomsday’s core sponsors (limited to 15) whose financial support is crucial to the success of the event. Bloomsday appreciates the role of Major Sponsors in making the event possible, and encourages Sponsors to publicize their association with Bloomsday. To help make the community aware of these supporting businesses, the Lilac Bloomsday Association includes the following as part of its Major Sponsor package:
1. Announcing Sponsor in a press release and at the Bloomsday Kick-Off press conference held approximately two months before the run.
2. Including Sponsor logo on the Bloomsday entry form. Approximately 125,000 entry forms are printed and distributed in Spokane, the Pacific Northwest and across the country.
3. Including Sponsor logo on Bloomsday’s promotional poster that is distributed before the run to nearly 1,000 locations around the Inland Northwest.
4. Listing Sponsor logo on Bloomsday ads that run in print media in the Inland Northwest in the weeks leading up to the run. As an example, in 2007 full-page color ads ran on five occasions in The Inlander (45,000 copies printed each time).
5. Including Sponsor logo on Runner Instructions, which are distributed to approximately 45,000 entrants during Check-In on Bloomsday weekend.
6. Placing Sponsor’s logo on the “goodie bag” handed to each entrant at Check-In.
7. Listing Sponsor by name and logo on the Bloomsday Web site home page, www.bloomsdayrun.org, with a link to Sponsor’s Web site.
8. Displaying Sponsor’s banner at the Trade Show on Friday and Saturday prior to the run, and at the finish line on race day. Bloomsday also creates a large group banner featuring all Major Sponsors to be displayed at various activities leading up to Bloomsday. The individual banner is to be provided to Bloomsday by the Sponsor.
9. Providing Sponsor with one free team entry into the Bloomsday Corporate cup competition, if entered before deadline. The value is $300.00.
10. Providing Sponsor with Bloomsday logo slicks, upon request, for the Sponsor to use in its own advertising to promote its involvement with Bloomsday.
11. Providing Sponsor with one Trade Show booth subject to acceptance by the Sponsor no later than April 1, 2008. The value of Trade Show Booth is $750.00.
12. Listing Sponsor in the post-run thank-you ad in the Bloomsday Souvenir Results Booklet. Approximately 35,000 booklets are printed and distributed.
13. Including Sponsor logo on the results postcard, which is mailed to all finishers after the race.
